What to attend?

Is it compulsory for me to attend orientation?

It is highly recommended that you attend UTS Orientation before commencing your studies. It has been shown that attendance at Orientation can have a positive impact on your academic and social experience at university. If you receive Austudy, Abstudy or Youth Allowance you will receive your benefit whilst attending Orientation.

How do I decide what to attend?

Orientation is split into core sessions and optional activities and seminars. The program goes all week.

It is recommended that you attend all core sessions.

  • If you are an undergraduate student core sessions will take place on Mon 21 July from 10.00am-5.00pm and on Tuesday 22 July 11.00am-12.30pm. Go to your Official Welcome to get a detailed program briefing.
  • If you are a postgraduate student a block of core sessions will take place on Mon 21 July 4.00pm-6.00pm and Tuesday 22 July 9.00am-1.00pm. Go to your Official Welcome to get a detailed program briefing.
  • If you are an international (including Study Abroad & Exchange) or undergraduate student you should also attend the Academic English seminars.
  • All students will have an additional core session, your Faculty Welcome.  This will take place on Wed 23, Thurs 24 or Fri 25 July.

Optional activities and seminars are designed to give you a social and academic headstart at UTS:

  • Make sure you attend the core session, session booking to book into appropriate seminars and workshops.
